Fully Known: Album Art & Artist Website


GCU’s studio worship team, “The Grand Collective” writes and produces their own albums annually. This years team was in need for a new album cover for their project. The album was themed after God the Potter and his intimate knowledge of us, His clay. It was eventually named “Fully Known”. My goal was to ideate a variety of designs that tell the visual story of the project. After working with typography, acrylics, digital illustrations, and photography, I gave the client 5 final comps. The client wanted more pottery inspired visuals leading me to finding a potter to photograph.
Later that year, the group wanted to host a charitable concert event to debut the album. The charity raised funds for the non-profit Blood:Water. A landing page was then in the works to promote the concert, Inform about Blood:Water’s ministry, and sell tickets to the event.
The team was intrested in experimenting different ways to visually tell the narritive of their album, so we decided to play with typographic, illustrative, and photographic versions of the album art. The sketches here helped me explore more concepts and visual metaphors resembling clay and pottery. After forming 3 main ideas and directions, I developed 5 concepts to put in front of the clients.
I hired a potter for a 10 minute quick shoot and used a collection of those photos for the album final album art. After the final visuals were complete The grand collective wanted to launch a microsite to inform their audience about a charity concert event they were hosting to debut their album live. The website needed to capture the creativity and artistry of the music industry, while still laying out information clearly and effectively, leading them through multiple CTA's
